The app growth stack

Comparison

RevenueCat alternatives

RevenueCat is the default answer for iOS subscriptions, which is exactly why it is worth knowing what else the category contains before committing your billing layer to it.

There is no ranking on this page. Nobody here has run all 8 of these for a quarter, so a score would be invented. What follows is the shortlist, in alphabetical order, with one line on what separates each — and a link to the vendor’s own pricing page, because a price restated here would be out of date before you read it.

  • Adapty

Subscription infrastructure with paywall A/B testing built in rather than bolted on.

  • Lemon Squeezy

A different model entirely: merchant of record for selling outside the App Store, handling sales tax. Not a StoreKit layer.

  • Nami

Aimed at teams selling across mobile, web and connected TV, where the subscriber is not only on one platform.

  • Paddle

Merchant of record like Lemon Squeezy — relevant if part of your revenue is web rather than in-app.

  • Purchasely

Paywall building and lifecycle experiences without code, with the billing layer underneath.

    Visit sitePublishes no price
  • Qonversion

Subscription back end covering iOS, Android and web, with experiments and revenue tracking.

  • RevenueCat

The product this page is named after — in-app purchase and subscription infrastructure with customer data across iOS, Android and web.

  • Superwall

Paywalls changed remotely without shipping a build, alongside entitlements and SDKs for iOS, Android and web.

What you have to check yourself

None of this is knowable from outside, and it is where the decision actually gets made.

  • Whether it is a StoreKit layer or a merchant of record. Those are different products solving different problems, and two entries here are the latter.
  • Whether pricing scales with revenue or with installs, and where any threshold sits — that is where the decision actually lives.
  • What migration off it looks like, before you migrate on to it. Receipt and entitlement history is the thing that is painful to move.
  • Whether it handles the things StoreKit 2 now does natively, and whether you still need it for your app in particular.
  • Server-side notification handling and how failures are surfaced. A silent webhook failure is a revenue bug you find out about late.
